WORK IN THE "REAL WORLD"

We all have our own ideas on what "the real world" actually is. Some of us think it's a group of strangers living together in a penthouse suite while doing body shots off each other for a national TV audience. Others think it's starched shirts, pressed pants and punching the clock for 40 hours a week. At SKAR, we're somewhere in between.

We're looking for college students who are studying advertising, marketing, graphic design or a related field. Candidates should have junior-class standing or above -- but don't let that hold you back if you're really interested.

We work from 8:30 to 5:00 Monday through Friday with the occasional late night. Our internship program will run from mid-May to mid-Aug. And, yes, you will get paid - $7.25 per hour. Hours and dates can be altered to accommodate student schedules.

YOU WON'T FIND THESE IN THE KAMA SUTRA

You'll need to be organized and motivated while helping research new business prospects, help existing clients develop campaign strategies and do the day-to-day management of client needs. This is your chance to prove that all the fluff on your resumé about great communication skills and being a team player is true.

Work with art directors and designers to build ideas from the ground up with concepts that not only make sense but work. You'll get a crash course in blogging, writing headlines and feature content, and scripting TV and radio spots. You don't need to be a standup comedian, but it helps to have a sense of humor.

Create fresh art and visuals while working with others to turn ideas into executions. If you are experienced in working with Web and interactive applications, that helps too. Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator is a must -- it should be easier than riding a bike.

Be tuned in to the latest trends and find ways to use social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Foursquare to help integrate campaigns, engage consumers and create meaningful conversations. You don't need 3,000-plus Facebook friends but you do need to know how to create content that will keep people interested.

- DEADLINE to submit application materials is March 25, 2012.
- SEMIFINALISTS will be contacted the following week and asked to complete a small project.
- INTERVIEWS will be conducted with finalists at SKAR and chosen candidates will be notified no later than April 23.
